Manifesto
Routes of Piemonte
A shared commitment to culture, places, and people.

Piemonte is a crossroads of landscapes, histories, and communities. Here, culture is not a decoration: it is an infrastructure—made of routes, practices, knowledge, craft, hospitality, memory, and future.
Routes of Piemonte is a voluntary coordination of the Council of Europe Cultural Routes that are active in the region. We come together to connect what already exists, amplify its value, and offer a clear, collaborative framework to institutions, citizens, and visitors.
This Manifesto defines who we are, what we stand for, and what we commit to build—starting now.

Our Purpose
We do this by:
We exist to strengthen cultural routes as a lever for sustainable territorial development.

Our Vision

We envision a Piemonte where cultural routes:
——are recognised as strategic public-interest assets
——generate economic and social value without losing authenticity
——protect heritage while innovating how it is interpreted and experienced
——connect urban and rural areas, flagship places and minor sites, residents and visitors
——inspire pride, belonging, and curiosity, especially in younger generations

Our Values
We align with the principles of the Council of Europe and affirm these shared values:
Human-centred culture
Culture serves people: education, wellbeing, dialogue and participation.
Authenticity and quality
We prioritise content, competence, research and long-term credibility.
Sustainability
Environmental responsibility, slow mobility where possible, seasonality, and respect for carrying capacity.
Inclusion and accessibility
Routes must be accessible—physically, economically, and culturally.
Cooperation over competition
We grow by connecting, not by fragmenting. Shared calendars, shared tools, shared visibility.
Territorial dignity
Every community and place has value: we promote balanced narratives beyond stereotypes.

What We Do Together
Routes of Piemonte is not a new Route.
It is a coordination platform.

A Promise of Method
We commit to working in a way that is:

Our Commitments for the Next Phase
In the coming months, we will focus on concrete deliverables:
A common narrative for Piemonte as a European cultural crossroads
A unified map of Routes active in Piemonte, with key sites and experiences
A coordinated public calendar (events, conferences, festivals, anniversaries)
Joint visibility actions, starting from the press conference and a shared media kit
Institutional dialogue to recognise Routes as strategic assets for sustainable cultural tourism
A pipeline of pilot projects: education, accessibility, mobility, thematic clusters, local supply chains

Our Invitation
TO VISITORS
explore Piemonte with time, respect and curiosity—following paths that connect landscapes to ideas, and places to people.
TO CULTURAL OPERATORS AND COMMUNITIES
bring your places, stories and skills into a shared ecosystem.
TO INSTITUTIONS
work with us to make culture a visible, measurable driver of cohesion and development.
ROUTES ARE NOT JUST LINES ON A MAP.
THEY ARE A WAY TO UNDERSTAND EUROPE THROUGH THE LIVING HERITAGE OF ITS TERRITORIES.
This is Routes of Piemonte.
A shared commitment to culture, places, and people.
